SOLA3 Turns 20!
On Sept. 21 this year, friends of SOLA3 gathered at the lovely oceanfront, lakeside home of John and Bryn Burke to show their support and celebrate the organization’s 20th anniversary. Bryn was SOLA3’s first Secretary and she and John also hosted our 10th anniversary. The weather was perfect for the outdoor event and a festive mood prevailed with delicious food and plenty of libations
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of matching Delaware Senate and House of Representatives tributes to SOLA3 that were co-presented to President and Founder Sallie Forman by State Senator Russ Huxtable and retiring Representative and Speaker-Emeritus Pete Schwartzkopf. Sallie then presented Pete with a plaque recognizing and thanking him for his unwavering support for SOLA3 from the beginning.

SOLA Turns 10!
On August 16, 2014, community leaders, state and local officials, business owners, and many “Friends of SOLA3” gathered to celebrate SOLA3’s 10th Anniversary and to raise funds to accomplish its mission.
SOLA3 announced its gift to the community: a bird identification marker that will be installed on the western shore of Silver Lake. David Small, Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, praised SOLA3 for its diligence, perseverance, good research, education, and positive relationships. SOLA3 received Delaware House and Senate tributes, sponsored by Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf and Senator Ernie Lopez. A citation from Governor Markell proclaimed that the day belonged to SOLA3.
Fifteen top area restaurants satisfied the hungry guests with a dazzling array of creative hors d’oeuvres. Fair to say a good time was had by all at this very successful celebration.
